Caitlin Norgard

Product enthusiast

Once upon a time, well, it was 2009…financial and housing markets crashed, and it was time to find work. As a young art grad from Cooper Union I knew that being a gallery artist wasn’t for me…. where could I use my talent?

My journey to technology and operations from art school may on the surface seem distant, but in fact I have found more parallels between business and art than I have found differences. Both fields require critical thinking, creativity, process improvement and perfection and a constant desire for continuous improvement.

The one thing I did not anticipate coming out of school was the pure joy it is to be a team leader. Motivating others, training on new tools and enabling team members through supportive, psychologically safe management practices has been a constant theme throughout my career.

TLDR: Caitlin is just incredible. Anyone who has the opportunity to interact with Caitlin will immediately find her to be very intelligent, charismatic, genuinely engaged and invested. Everyone just loves being in her orbit. Her ability to step into a new subject area, quickly ramp up and begin adding value is truly remarkable. After working with her for over 4 years now I’ve witnessed her transition through several roles and, in each case, she hit the ground running with a great attitude and crushed it (not the least bit surprising.) She’s also demonstrated leadership qualities which materially contributed to the success of her teams. Caitlin devotes a great deal of her time to educating her team, offering advice and making herself available as someone they can confide in and come to for help – all while giving them enough autonomy to feel empowered and fulfilled. Also, she has an empathetic nature which not only makes her a great leader, but it also proves valuable in execution/delivery. Being able to place herself in someone else’s shoes goes a long way in enabling her to bring fresh solutions to problems, ensure great user experiences and design awesome products. I honestly wish there was a training course for people to learn how to be more like her – but the simple fact is she just “has it.” That intangible “it factor” we all wish we had.

She allowed me to take stakeholder ownership of the products we used and taught me some basic code, which led to my own career in technology. Her ability to get the best out of people through her management style is one of the key reasons I am where I am today. Her calm in crisis and innovative thinking to achieve results were always an inspiration. I’m delighted I had the chance to learn from Caitlin.

I got a chance to work with Caitlin for a brief period of time, but I was truly amazed about her knowledge related to supply chain, product management and people management skills. She went out of her way to help me as much as possible and explained to me about the whole life cycle of product development. Not only does she have good domain and business knowledge, but she has lead several teams in her career to develop software using modern tech stack which has significantly contributed in the growth of the organization. Few people have that kind of diverse experience. She would be a great asset for any organization .
